Horse Boots
Horse boots are essential when riding, as most other footwear will cause slipping. Horse riding boots are a boot without laces that is worn for riding horses; part of a riding habit. The classic boot comes high enough up the leg to prevent the leathers of the saddle from pinching and chafing the leg of the rider, they have a sturdy toe to protect the rider's foot when on the ground and have a distinct heel to prevent the foot from sliding through the stirrup. The sole is smooth or lightly textured to avoid being caught on the tread of the stirrup in the event of a fall.
The modern riding boot is relatively low heeled, with a heel of less than one inch, though in the past a higher heel was common, as a big aim of horse boots is to prevent the foot from slipping through the stirrup.
There are many different styles and variations of these and whilst Western riders will generally wear cowboy style boots, many prefer lace-up boots and ankle-high paddock boots.
When trying to acquire the correct riding boots, it is good to bear in mind; that the foot part of the boot is generally sized just like shoes. The calf part comes in different widths from Extra Small to Extra Wide and can vary throughout the different manufacturers and also come in a different variety of heights from some manufacturers. These horse boots can also come with zips up the back to provide greater ease when putting on or removing g them. Either way, no matter your measurements, there is always a suitable pair of horse riding boots, however, if you have below average or above average measurements, this can come with a heavier price tag.
